Lullabies and Mudpies – Tagging Open for Holiday Sale

Please allow me to introduce you to our newest sponsor, Lullabies and Mudpies.  I am so excited to be working with Lullabies and Mudpies!  Lullabies and Mudpies is a kids and teens seasonal consignment event that serves the Pace/Milton/Pensacola areas!  Sales are held in the spring and fall and the Holiday sale is coming up!  If you have never been to a consignment sale, I recommend that you give them a try.  Lullabies and Mudpies has a team of people at every sale to ensure that the items being turned in for sale are of good quality.  At the last sale I attended, I was able to pick up a few things at a low price for my kids.  Two items still had the tags on them!

Do you have stuff that you have been meaning to get rid of still sitting around the house?  A few days ago, online tagging opened up for the Lullabies and Mudpies sale.  I participated in the Holiday sale last year.  It is a great way to clean out the winter clothes as well as the toys.  Becoming a consigner is easy.  Sign up on the Consigner page, follow the directions and start tagging.

The preparation process can be a little time consuming but I found it to be well worth my time.  I was preparing items for sale and tagging them for about eight hours total.  When we hold a garage sale, I usually spend several hours preparing, at least five hours at the garage sale and then another few hours cleaning up, running to Goodwill, etc.  I only put about 45 items in the holiday sale and I made as much as I did at my last garage sale.  And if that wasn’t reason enough, I didn’t have to sit in the hot sun all day!  If you don’t have time to get your items ready for consignment yourself, consider their Concierge Service where someone else will do most of the work for you for a small fee!

The kids and I have already started cleaning out gently used toys and clothes (some still have tags…ugh!) that are still in good condition to put into this sale.  See a list of acceptable merchandise before you start tagging.

Not interested in consigning but you would like to shop?  The Lullabies and Mudpies holiday sale will be held from November 3rd to November 5th and November 10 to November 12th.  See the calendar of events for specific date information.

Will we see you there?

Bricks for Kidz is a company that created programs where children can learn while they build with LEGO® bricks and now they have come to our area!  Activities are designed to trigger children’s imagination.  I don’t know about you, but both of my children adore their LEGO® blocks and would play with them all day long if they could!

Here are some upcoming events:

Batter’s Box Family Fun Center – Pace, Florida

What: Mini Golf and Batting Cages; Where: Batter’s Box Family Fun Center in Pace, FL; When: Mon-Thurs 3pm-8pm, Fri 3pm-9pm, Sat 10am-9pm, Sun 12pm-7pm; Cost: Mini Golf – $5 adult, $4 child, Batting Cages vary by hour

We had seen the blue barn that belongs to the Batter’s Box Family Fun Center several times but have never taken the time to visit.  Soccer is more my son’s sport and we had no idea that they have a great mini golf course until I saw a Groupon for it.  I figured that for $9 (we saved $9 by purchasing the Groupon) for my family to try our hand at mini golf, we couldn’t go wrong!

We ventured out on a Saturday and were pleasantly surprised that the crowds were minimal so we were able to take our time on the mini golf course.  The course is 18 holes and was just the right size for my kids.  As we were walking to the last hole, they both wanted to know when we were going to be finished!  It took us about an hour to complete a round of golf.

We didn’t stop to play at the playset but I was excited to see something to entertain the younger children while the older ones practiced in the batting cages.

There are also batting cages and the Batter’s Box can hold your birthday party or other event.  If you want a treat after your game, you can get an ice cream from the blue barn!

Things to Know Before You Go:

  • Although the mini golf area is shaded in some areas, a lot of it is not.  The kids got hot very quickly and we all came home with slight sunburns.  It is time to remember sunscreen on all of our outings!

The Batter’s Box Family Fun Center is located at 5566 Woodbine Road in Pace.  The contact number is 850.995.9295.  You can also connect with them on their Facebook page.

Sweet Memories Ice Cream – Pace, Florida

***Sweet Memories is permanently closed.

**Sweet Memories is under new management and not only are they offering an array of ice cream flavors now but they are also serving cupcakes!  Visit them at their new Facebook Page.**

We often get emails from readers and business owners alike telling us about new (and old favorites) things to do in and around Pensacola.  Sometimes, we might never have heard about a great place without your emails so we thank you!  I received an email from someone from Sweet Memories Ice Cream shop and it got tucked away for a visit when we were out that way.  The ice cream shop is located in Pace and I am not!  When my friend and I headed out to check out the Holland Peanut Farms Pumpkin Patch at the beginning of October, we drove past Sweet Memories and the sign caught my eye.  As we drove past it, I remembered that it was on my list of places to visit so we decided to stop on our way back and have ice cream for lunch!  I promise I fed my child her real lunch when we got home!

They serve Edy’s ice cream, which you can certainly buy at a store, but it is definitely not as tasty!  I had a mint chocolate chip sundae that had mint chocolate chip ice cream, hot fudge, mint cookies, and whipped cream.  Both of the kids had Birthday Cake ice cream which was surprisingly delicious.  My friend had the Strawberry Cheesecake sundae.  Yum…ready to head over there right now?!

We were greeted as soon as we opened the door and were served quickly.  I was happy to find that the ice cream was reasonably priced.  We sat on the front porch and enjoyed our ice cream while the kids ran around.

If you are in Pace and craving some ice cream, Sweet Memories is definitely worth a stop!

Sweet Memories is located at 4458 Woodbine Road, Pace, Florida and their contact number is 850.995.4999.

Dixon Primary’s Haystackular – Pace, Florida

It was a beautiful day on Sunday so we took the opportunity to visit Dixon Primary’s Haystackular in Pace.  Haystackular is the largest haybale maze constructed in Northwest Florida and is a Dixon Primary PTO fundraiser.  For five dollars, you get a turn in the hay maze, a ride on the hay ride and a go in the corn trough (like a sandbox but filled with corn!).  There are other things available at an extra cost for the kids like bounce houses and a zip line.  There is food and drink available for purchase.

My son found the way out of the maze quickly.  I think it took us about 15 minutes to get through it.  We had a good time wandering around and the weather was beautiful.

Haystackular is open during the weekends in October.  The hours are Friday 4-9pm,  Saturday 12-6pm, and Sunday 12-6pm.  It is located at S.S. Dixon Primary’s PE Field across from Hwy 90 from Dixon Primary.  Be sure to follow the link to confirm dates and times.

Corn and Hay Mazes

Even if it is only a degree or two cooler, we are loving the fact that it is (sort of) showing signs that fall is upon us.  One of our favorite things to do in the fall is visit the corn mazes around the area.  My son is a maze aficionado.  He loves them and can find the way out like a rat following the smell of the cheese at the end of the maze!  Here are a few of the corn mazes in our area.

As always, we recommend that you follow the links or call ahead for more information and to confirm dates and times.

Sweet Seasons Corn Maze, Milton, Florida – This was probably the most challenging maze that we visited last year.  Sweet Seasons Farm puts on quite a show and you could spend all day visiting.  The Grand Opening is September 25th and they will be open each Saturday and Sunday from then until their closing day, October 31.  Their attractions include the maze, a corn cannon, the cow train, a hayride and a playground.  This year they are adding a mini hay bale maze and you can purchase Scout patches if you finish the maze!  Before you go, make sure you print the coupon!  Read our 2009 review of the Sweet Seasons Corn maze.

Maizing Family Farm, Elberta, AL – We enjoyed this maze last year because we were lucky to be there at a time when it was not crowded so the kids were able to wander through the maze on their own after we went through it together.  Their opening day is October 1 and they will continue through the month until October 31.  Their attractions include the maze, a corn cannon, a playground, tractor drawn wagon rides, and animals.  This year they will also have a sunflower “sea” as well as an ornamental corn and gourd patch.  See our 2009 review of the Maizing Family Farm Corn Maze.

Dixon Primary’s Haystackular, Pace, FL – The PTO of Dixon Primary is putting on the first annual Haystackular Hay Maze.  Opening day will be October 1 and the maze will continue through the month.  There will be different events, fall activities and food available.

Magnolia Corn Maze, Magnolia Springs, AL –  Opening day is September 25th and the maze will continue through October 31.  There will be different activities including trick or treating, a haunted maze, and a food drive throughout the month.  Other activities include the cow train, corn cannon and games.

Seward Farms, Lucedale, MS – This trip clocks in at about 1-1.5 hours depending on where you live but this corn maze comes recommended by a friend so I wanted to add it to the list.  This appears to be the longest running maze in our area as it opens September 11 and stays open through November 6.  Activities include the maze, Animal Farm Alley, hayrides, a corn cannon, a U-pick Wildflower Patch, and more.

Did we miss any?  If you know of any other fall mazes, please let us know in the comment section.
