Summer Road Trip Celebration – 10 Things To Do in Atlanta, Georgia with Kids

This week for our Summer Road Trip Celebration we are thinking about Atlanta, Georgia.  All of your guesses for Mystery Photo Monday were correct!  It is about a 6 hour drive from Pensacola and is great for a weekend getaway.  Suzanne commented yesterday with some great suggestions and you can check out my buddy’s website, Atlanta with Kid (today she posted 10 free or cheap things to do in Atlanta this summer).  Here are our top ten picks for Atlanta with your kids:

  • See the whale sharks at the Georgia Aquarium.  You will not be able to get over the size of these whale sharks.
  • Let the kids get some imaginative play at the Imagine It! Children’s Museum.
  • Take a walk on the new Canopy Walk and check out the Children’s Garden at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.
  • If you like Coca-Cola, visit World of Coca-Cola and try colas from all over the world in the tasting room.
  • Watch the Fountain of Rings show and let the kids splash around to cool off in Centennial Olympic Park.
  • My little girl is just old enough that she would love to have tea at the American Girl Place!
  • See a Braves baseball game or tour Turner Field.
  • If you have a roller coaster fan in your family, visit Six Flags over Georgia.
  • Get outside and visit Stone Mountain.  See the laser light show, go camping, hiking or ride the Ducks!
  • The art lovers in your family will enjoy the High Museum of Art.  Before you go, see if there are family activities going on that day!

New Orleans with Kids

YAY!  I just got word from Colleen, over at Travel Mamas, that the link is up and working.  I hope you enjoy the article and be sure to leave a comment with your favorite New Orleans activity (with kids of course) on her site for her readers!

If you went to New Orleans before you had kids, you might still think it is all about getting beads and battling rowdy crowds.  While this is partly true, there are so many family activities in New Orleans as well.  New Orleans is perfect for an overnighter and if you don’t mind the drive you can even do a daytrip.  With The Princess and the Frog based in New Orleans, it might even be fun to make the trip just to see the sights pictured in the movie.  It is under three hours and there are many ways to make it budget friendly.  We have the trip down to a science and can usually get away with spending less than 350 dollars for a full weekend, including gas and hotel!  Stop by Travel Mamas and read my guest post titled Family-Friendly New Orleans on a Budget.  If you have additional recommendations for family friendly activities in New Orleans, leave a comment over at Travel Mamas to let her readers know!
