Mystery Photo Monday #13

These beautiful white stairs would be a fantastic setting for a family photo shoot.  I attempted it but my kids would have nothing to do with it!  Do you know where I tried to take their pictures?

We hope you will play along!  If you know where this mystery photo was taken, leave a comment in this post!

Mystery Photo Monday #12

When we want to go to a park and get outside but I don’t want to chase them all over the place, we head here.  Do you know where to find this park?

We hope you will play along!  If you know where to find this park, leave a comment in this post!

Mystery Photo Monday #11 – Answer

On Monday I asked if you knew where to find this fountain…

It is the fountain at Cordova Mall on the Old Navy/World Market side.  My kids love to run around this fountain and watch it.  When we need to get out of the house for a little bit, sometimes we just come sit here and listen to the fountain.  When it isn’t crowded, it can put everyone in a better mood.  Thanks to the other commenter for reminding me about the fountain in front of the post office.  We are going to have to go check that out!

DeLuna Lanes Bowling Alley – Pensacola, Florida

Mystery Photo Monday #10

This particular bowling shoe picture was taken at DeLuna Lanes.  I am going to have to pay closer attention to the carpet at the local bowling alleys!  I guess I never noticed the fabulous bowling carpet at the different bowling alleys!!

Now that our kids are a bit older, 3 and 5, we love to take them bowling.  It is enjoyable for them and does not make more work for us as parents.  They are old enough now to be able to roll the ball down the lane.  They don’t get too impatient when it is time for mom and dad to have their turns.  We like going to DeLuna Lanes because it is close to us.  We haven’t ever had to wait for a lane and the prices are reasonable.  We do always call ahead so that we know there will not be any league practices going on while we are there.  There are also pool tables, video games and a sports grill available!  Their birthday party packages are reasonably priced for what you get.

DeLuna Lanes is located at 590 East Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, FL 32514 and the contact number is 850.478.9522.

How cute are these adorable bowling shoes?  Anyone know where that bowling carpet can be found (this is an older photo so they might have remodeled…not sure!)?

We hope you will play along!  If you know which bowling alley this might be, leave a comment in this post!

Yum!  As soon as my kids spy the white box these yummy treats come in, they go wild.  Where did these signature smiley face cookies and other tasty treats come from?

We hope you will play along!  If you know where in Pensaola I found these, leave a comment in this post.  I will give away the answer tomorrow.

Mystery Photo Monday #8-Answer-Uncle Sandy’s Macaw Bird Park

It isn’t often that you guys, the readers of Pensacola with Kids, get to learn much about me as a person.  Mostly, I am just the author of this blog…mama to two kids who love to explore and tell you about the attractions and events in Pensacola.  I am going to let you in on a little secret today.

I. Hate. Birds.

No, really…I do.  I can appreciate a beautiful bird from afar but I don’t like them. Not. At. All.  Call it strange, call it bizarre, but I don’t like ‘em.  I have gotten a couple emails about Uncle Sandy’s Macaw Bird Park and even though my children (as many children are!) are fascinated with birds, I have avoided this Pensacola attraction like nobody’s business.   Thanks Kim for playing along on Mystery Photo Monday…you were right.  It was most definitely Uncle Sandy’s Macaw Bird Park.  So, you might ask how I managed to feature a picture of Little S holding a bird for Mystery Photo Monday this past week if I hate birds so much?  Well, a group that I am a member of took a field trip to Uncle Sandy’s Macaw Bird Park and in the name of research and making my kids smile, I decided to go.

According to the website, Uncle Sandy’s is home to over 40 macaws, chickens, a peacock, and many other birds.  In between dodging the roaming birds, I learned that Uncle Sandy’s is a place where birds are brought when the owner can no longer care for them and also that many of the birds were raised there.  My daughter and her playmate fell in love with this bird, Bob.  He loved to ride on their shoulders throughout the park.

There are lots of birdy residents.  You can walk through the huge cage that houses many macaws, I don’t know…maybe 900 macaws…probably not 900, but in my fear it seemed like that many…and feed them.  They will sit on your shoulder, your head, and your arm while you feed them peanuts.  The little ones weren’t allowed in but they all got a kick out of watching the birds climb on the other moms.  Me?  Somebody had to stay outside of the cage with the younger children, right?

At the end of the visit, we were given a small packet of coloring sheets and word searches for the kids to do.  My son loved completing the word search when we got home.

Uncle Sandy’s Macaw Bird Park is located at 9513 N. Palafox Street, Pensacola, FL near 9 mile Road.  The contact number is 850.478.6421.  A self-guided tour is $3.oo per person.  Uncle Sandy’s is open to the public Thursday through Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

Do you know where we met this little guy?  I can give you a hint–it wasn’t at the Zoo (which opened this weekend…more on that later!!!).

We hope you will play along!  If you want to take a guess, leave a comment in this post.  I will post the answer tomorrow with a description of the place we visited!

Mystery Photo Monday #7 – Answer – The Wharf – Orange Beach, AL

For Mystery Photo Monday, I asked if you knew where/what this was:

This ferris wheel can be found at The Wharf in Orange Beach, Alabama

The Wharf is only about 45 minutes away from Pensacola so it is ideal for a little day trip getaway.  You might be familiar with The Wharf because they often have great concerts in their huge amphitheater.  The kids will love riding this ferris wheel…well, most of them!  I must admit that we have not taken a ride on the ferris wheel yet.  Big S was not thrilled with the idea of riding it and we weren’t willing to buy tickets only to have him change his mind at the last minute.  Instead, we sat on a bench across the way and watched the ferris wheel go round and round for about 30 minutes before having lunch.  Tickets to ride the ferris wheel are $4.00.  The ferris wheel does not run on Mondays.  The ferris wheel is surrounded by many shops and restaurants so when you are finished riding, have lunch or wander through the shops or to the beach and make a day of it!

The Wharf is located at 23101 Canal Rd, Orange Beach, AL 36561 and the general contact number is 1-877-WharfAL.
