Blues on the Beach 2011 Pensacola Airshow

It is time for the annual Pensacola Beach airshow.  I have something to admit…we have only gone to the actual beach airshow once.  We camped at Ft. Pickens, I was 8 months pregnant, and miserably hot.  I love air shows and it was great but I will never camp in Florida in July again!  Since then, I have brought the kids to the dress rehearsal the day before and it is a perfect fit for my family.

Thursday, July 7th at 2pm - Practice Session

Friday, July 8th at 2pm – Airshow Dress Rehearsal

Saturday, July 9th at 12noon – Airshow (Blues fly at 2pm)

Summer Reading Programs

Keep the kids reading this summer by getting them involved in one of the Summer Reading Programs!

Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Imagination Destination - Download the Reading Journal.  Have your kids read any 8 books of their choice and record them in the Reading Journal.  When they are finished, take the completed Journal to your local B&N and they will get a book for free (book choices are listed in the journal)!  There are also Parent Activity kits with tips and activities.

Kid’s Summer Reading Club at Escambia County Libraries - Children ages 0-17 can participate in this reading program put on by Escambia County Library system.  You must sign up at your local library June 6th or sometime after.  I am unsure of the cutoff date.  Children get to roll dice and play a game that gives them activities to complete.  When they finish, they receive a certificate, a trip to the Treasure Chest, and coupons from various businesses.

Kid’s Summer Reading Club at Santa Rosa County Libraries – The summer reading program begins at the Santa Rosa County Libraries on June 13th.  There isn’t much information on the website yet, but we will keep you posted!

We participated in both the B&N program and the Escambia County program.  I plan on having my children participate in both programs again this summer!
