Tree Farms in and around Pensacola, Florida

When do you put up your Christmas tree?  Do you put up a fake tree or a real tree?  Does your family head out to a Christmas tree farm to cut down your own?

Here are a few U-pick Christmas tree farms in our surrounding area.  Even if you already have a tree or put up a fake tree, a visit to the farm can be fun for the family.  If there are any farms to add to the list or if any of these are no longer operating, please let us know!  As always, make sure to call ahead before you go.

Fish River Trees - Located in Summerdale, AL; This is the only farm on the list that we have visited.  We had such a great time and we didn’t even go to pick out a tree!  There is a ride around the farm, hot chocolate to purchase, Santa and reindeer to visit.

Whispering Pines Christmas Tree Farm - Located north of Milton; They have staff to help you with your tree purchase.

Country Pine Christmas Tree Farm - Located near Bratt; Enjoy the pond, free cookies and candy canes for the kids, and run around while looking for your tree.

The Christmas Tree Forest - Located in Pensacola; They have both choose and cut and potted trees.

If you are interested in being a volunteer to walk a mile stretch of the beach taking pictures and documenting on November 6, head to Visit Florida to see the flyer and information.

Summer Road Trip Celebration – Jacksonville, Florida

All summer, while we continue to showcase all the great things going on around Pensacola we will also be sharing our favorite (and yours too!) road trips.  For Mystery Photo Monday, I asked if you knew where this fountain was:

This particular fountain is in Jacksonville, Florida.  We have friends in Jacksonville so we make the drive over there once or twice a year.  It is about 6 hours away so we find the trip is best made when we can take a Friday or Monday off but we have made the trip on a regular weekend.  Here are our favorite family picks for Jacksonville:

Stop by Trekaroo Spotlight Thursday to see where other people are traveling this week.

Mystery Photo Monday #18

For this week’s Mystery Photo Monday, I am kicking off the Pensacola With Kid’s Summer Road Trip Celebration with a picture from another city.  Throughout the summer, I will be posting road trip suggestions from both the readers and PWK’s favorite places to go to get away.  Don’t worry…we will continue to write about Pensacola and the surrounding areas.  I can’t wait to start exploring with my kids this summer!

Here are a few hints:  This fountain is downtown next to a great museum the kids will love; the Superbowl was held here; it is one of the largest cities in Florida.

Have a guess?  We hope you will play along!  If you know where we will be road tripping this week, leave your guess in the comments.  I will give you a Top 10 with kids list for visiting this city later this week.  Also this week on Pensacola with Kids, info on Friday Family Flicks,  geocaching in Pensacola, and the Pensacola Pelicans!

Mystery Photo Monday #17

My freezer is full of these perfectly delicious berries!  Any thoughts to where this picture was taken?

We hope you will play along!  If you know where this strawberry patch might be leave a comment.  The season only has another week or so.  I will try to get my act together and post the answer tonight rather than wait until tomorrow so you have plenty of time for berry picking!
