2015 Summer Camps in and around Pensacola

summer_campSummer is here!  So here’s the much anticipated list of Summer Camps for our area!   Whether you are looking for full-time summer care or just a one week camp to help break up the summer, you can use this guide to help you plan. This is not a comprehensive guide and is not complete by any means. I will continue to add camps to the guide as I continue to receive information.  The list is in alphabetical order and lists the type of camp, age groups, dates and where the camp is held. Follow the link for more information or to register your child. We are not affiliated with any of the camps listed. If you know of a camp we should add to our list, please send me an email at julie (at) pensacolawithkids (dot) com or leave us a comment with a link to camp information. Updated June 3, 2015

The Ridge Cinema 8 2015 Free Summer Movie Series

Free summer movies

Summer vacation starts tomorrow!   I know with 2 little ones, I am always looking for fun things to do with them, and the FREE part makes it even better.  Add to that the lovely AC away from the heat, some delicious popcorn and a great movie and we are all set!

The Ridge Cinema 8 has published their 2015 Free Summer Movie Schedule   to their Facebook Page.

Movies are shown every Tuesday and Thursday at 10am. Doors open 9:30am and movies begin at 10am.

Like I have said before, don’t be late because they lock the doors once the theater is filled.

I will add the other movie theater schedules as we receive them.

Mark your calendars!

6/2 & 6/4  Big Hero 6 & Annie

6/9 & 6/11  Planes: Fire and Rescue & Night at the Museum 3

6/16 & 6/18 Rio 2 & Maleficent

6/23 & 6/25  Boxtrolls & Alexander and the No Good Very Bad Day

6/30 & 7/2  Spngebob 2 & Strange Magic

7/7 & 7/9 Despicable Me 2 & Lego Movie

7/14 & 7/16  Penguins of Madegascar & Earth To Echo

7/21 & 7/23  Mr Peabody and Sherman  & Into the Woods

7/28 & 7/30  Book of Life & Paddington

8/4  & 8/6  How to Train Your Dragon 2 & Muppets Most Wanted

8/11 & 8/13 Frozen & Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971)

8/18 & 8/30  Dolphin Tale 2 & Alvin and the Chipmunks

Things to Know Before You Go:

  • Head to the free summer movies with patience. These movies fill up quickly with day care field trips and families with kids. This is not a date night movie and there will be constant noise during the movie. It does quiet down to a reasonable level but remember that the movie is free and full of kids!
  • Doors open at 9:30 but a line begins closer to 9am.
  • Concessions will be open and often there is a deal on the Kid’s Pack.
  • You may want to go with a friend who can watch your seat if you have to get up for whatever reason

Things to Know Before You Go:

  • Check, recheck and triple check the dates and times to make sure they are still correct when the egg hunt gets closer.  As I always say, this information comes from word of mouth, press releases and flyers I see around town.  The information is not always correct and I am human and make mistakes sometimes (although I try not to do it very often!).  Follow the link and be sure to contact the number available to confirm the time.
  • Bring a basket or bag of your own.
  • Arrive early.  A friend of mine went to a hunt two years ago at the John R. Jones park.  The egg hunt was over in less than 3 minutes.  There were hundreds (probably thousands) of eggs picked up and her two children got a whopping 3 eggs between the two of them.  They were young and were just thrilled with the excitement of it all so luckily they weren’t disappointed.  However, if they had arrived 30 seconds later we would have missed the whole thing.
  • Just in case your little one doesn’t get too many eggs:  Hide a couple of prefilled eggs in your car before you go.  Now that my son is a year older, I foresee some serious disappointment if he only gets one egg.  I would throw a couple in the car and have them hunt for them when we were all finished.  Of course, in my car every day is an egg hunt except you never know what you might find!  HA!

Do you know of any other egg hunts that the community is invited to?  If so, leave a comment in this post with the information.  Any names or numbers not in an official capacity will be deleted for safety reasons.

Spring Break Activities

Spring-Break

It is time for spring break and if you are staying in town, you might be looking for ways to entertain the kids.  We have compiled a long list of activities around the area.  If you think we missed something that should be on the list, please leave us a note.  We will make changes as necessary.

Have fun exploring Pensacola!
