2012 Vacation Bible Schools in the Pensacola Area

There are a number of Vacation Bible Schools (VBS) in the Pensacola area. This list is not comprehensive and we will continue to add to the list as we receive information. I included any VBS that was submitted to me or a VBS that I came across unless I couldn’t find enough information or the cost to attend exceeded $25.

If you know of a VBS that we are missing, please leave us a comment or send me a note at jennifer at pensacolawithkids dot com.

The Vacation Bible Schools are listed in order of dates and then alphabetically. As always, call to confirm information and registration deadlines.

*Please note that Pensacola with Kids is not affiliated with any of the Vacation Bible Schools and be aware of our disclaimer.

Guide to Blueberry Season in Pensacola

Although my freezer still has blueberries in it from last season, I can’t wait to head to a local blueberry farm and pick some fresh berries. To me, blueberry season means the start of summer. While blueberry season seems a little early this year, summer is so close. Like strawberry picking, blueberry picking is a great activity to do together as a family. Going to the berry farms is free, the berries you pick are reasonably priced (much less expensive than the blueberries in store), and everyone works together as a family.

Well, sort of. My daughter can usually be found hiding inside a blueberry bush eating her berries as opposed to helping add to the family bucket!

Things to Know Before You Go:

  • Most blueberry farms provide buckets for you to use while you pick, but most also allow you to bring your own basket or bucket to use.
  • If you plan on picking more than a few pounds of blueberries, you may want an empty cooler to put the berries in. Not only will it keep them cool in the hot sun, but it will also keep the berries off of the ground where ants can find them. It also doubles as a good resting place for tired children.
  • Bring a hat and lather up with sunscreen to help protect yourself from the sun. There isn’t much shade on a blueberry farm.
  • Don’t forget the bug spray. Every time we go blueberry picking, I forget the bug spray and my poor daughter, who is prone to bug bites, comes home covered in bites.
  • If you plan on picking more than just a few pounds, you might want to bring something for your kids to do. My kids normally want a rest so we bring bubbles with us to entertain them when they need a break.
  • You might want to bring cash. Some blueberry farms take checks but many are cash only. Most are nowhere near an ATM!
  • Bring a cooler full of ice, water, and drinks of your choice. Pack some snacks, too.

Are you looking for a blueberry farm in the area? Here is a list in alphabetical order. If you know of one we need to add to the list, leave us a comment or send me a message at jennifer at pensacolawithkids dot com.

The hours and prices come from the farms’ websites and Facebook pages. Remember that these hours and prices are always subject to change. Call to confirm before you go as many of the farms have not updated their sites with the 2012 information.

Not all farms are open yet. Once they open, blueberry season usually last about 4 weeks, give or take a few weeks depending on weather and more.

Aragon Park is a small park located in the Aragon neighborhood. We stopped by to visit this park on our way to Joe Patti’s seafood. There are some swings and a few little boats to climb.

There are no bathrooms or drinking fountains at this park. We are excited to add Aragon Park to our parks list. My kids both loved the log roller and the little zip line.

Aragon Park is located at 540 Aragon Street.

Confetti Couture Events

Confetti Couture Events is a party planning facility that offers full-service event hosting. I had heard of Confetti Couture Events awhile back and while I shared their event information with all of you, we just couldn’t find an event to attend with timing that worked for us. Luckily, we were invited to a birthday party a few weeks ago and we were able to check out the facilities.

Fancy Nancy (one of Little S’s fave book series!) has got nothin’ on Confetti Couture Events!

As soon as we walked in to the cute little blue cottage on 9th Avenue, my daughter’s jaw dropped as she elatedly screeched out loud. In one corner, there was a dress up center full of feather boas, sunglasses, shoes and fancy tutus. In another corner, there is a chalkboard painted on the wall where guests can leave special messages for the birthday girl.

At this particular party, the girls got pedicures in the “spa” and then got to make their own favor, which was a decorated ring box for their ring pop. There was a long table decorated beautifully and my daughter was most impressed with the fancy glasses that the punch was served in.

It was a wonderful party full of girly, princess goodness but birthday parties are not the only services that Confetti Couture offers.

They also host drop off events like Spa Nights where children can get pampered, Tiny Teas perfect for your little princess, and painting events.

Confetti Couture Events is located at 801 N 9th Avenue and their contact number is 850.470.0103. You can also connect with them on Facebook.
