Things to Know Before You Go:

  • Check, recheck and triple check the dates and times to make sure they are still correct when the egg hunt gets closer.  As I always say, this information comes from word of mouth, press releases and flyers I see around town.  The information is not always correct and I am human and make mistakes sometimes (although I try not to do it very often!).  Follow the link and be sure to contact the number available to confirm the time.
  • Bring a basket or bag of your own.
  • Arrive early.  A friend of mine went to a hunt two years ago at the John R. Jones park.  The egg hunt was over in less than 3 minutes.  There were hundreds (probably thousands) of eggs picked up and her two children got a whopping 3 eggs between the two of them.  They were young and were just thrilled with the excitement of it all so luckily they weren’t disappointed.  However, if they had arrived 30 seconds later we would have missed the whole thing.
  • Just in case your little one doesn’t get too many eggs:  Hide a couple of prefilled eggs in your car before you go.  Now that my son is a year older, I foresee some serious disappointment if he only gets one egg.  I would throw a couple in the car and have them hunt for them when we were all finished.  Of course, in my car every day is an egg hunt except you never know what you might find!  HA!

Do you know of any other egg hunts that the community is invited to?  If so, leave a comment in this post with the information.  Any names or numbers not in an official capacity will be deleted for safety reasons.

Connecting Victims of Flood to those That Have Toys to Donate

helping flood victims with toys

We want to help those in need of toys for their kids. So many families have lost everything and losing toys can be traumatic for the kids.
Please help us in matching up what types of toys and what families need them.

Those that are families or that know of families in need, please fill out the following form: .

If you have toys that you have to donate:  Please box them up and label with age and gender and drop them off at Lads and Lassies, 1339 Creighton Road.  Then let us know on our Facebook page!  We will be picking them up as needed and connecting them with the families that need them.

We want the kids to get back to normal as quickly as possible and maybe a toy can help with that.

We will filter everything through our Pensacola With Kids Facebook.

Every little bit can help and even one toy is one that will help a child feel better.

Pensacola with Kids hosts the 1st PWK Toy Trade

“Trade those toys your kids don’t use, for those they WILL!”

Pensacola, FL – December 4, 2013 – Pensacola with Kids is hosting the 1st PWK Toy Trade to help parents and grandparents get toys they need for their kids in exchange for the toys their kids no longer play with.  The PWK Toy Trade will be held on Saturday, December, 21 from 3 pm – 7 pm at St. Francis of Assisi in Gulf Breeze.  We encourage parents to bring their children and make an evening of it!  There will be a bounce house provided by Patriot Party Rentals, music provided by DJ Gus Music to Go, Santa Clause and hot chocolate and cookies.  Gift wrapping will also be provided by volunteers to ensure the kids do not see what gifts they will be getting!  Everyone in the Pensacola and surrounding area is invited!

“With a teenager and 2 toddlers, we have a tight budget, so this is a great way to shop for Christmas.  Plus I like being able to donate toys they don’t use”  said Morgan S., mother.

Parents have a hard time keeping up with the amount of toys they collect as their kids grow.  The more toys, the more money that needs to be spent and with a tough economy, Pensacola with Kids wants to make it a little easier.

“I love the opportunity to be able to get rid of the toys in our home that are not age appropriate and clear out the space.  This is also a great event that will give us the opportunity to look at toys that are age appropriate without spending hundreds of dollars on new toys.  The PWK Toy Trade will be a way for Moms to help out other Moms in so many ways!”  stated Theresa C., mother of 3 girls under the age of 6.

The Toy Trade will comprise of parents being able to “purchase” toys with tickets that are worth the value of the toys they donate, or purchase the tickets for $1 each.  The toys will be given a specific value and then separated into groups by age and ticket price.  Then the guests will “shop” for toys they need.

Pensacola with Kids Has Gone Mobile!

Recently, I checked PWK from my phone and realized that it is awful to find anything!  I went to a conference this weekend and learned how easy it was to make your site mobile friendly…so guess what!?!  We are now mobile friendly!  I can’t believe I haven’t done this sooner.  I checked it out and it is much easier to navigate and find what you need.  The best part is that you can turn off the mobile version if you would like with a button at the very bottom of the homepage.  If you have any questions about the mobile friendly version, please comment or send me an email.
