Blueberry Picking in and Around Pensacola | Pensacola With Kids

Those sweet blueberries are ripe and ready for picking in the Pensacola area!  Blueberry picking is such a fun family-friendly activity.  Not only is it a reasonably priced activity, but you also get to take home a product for your money spent! And, blueberries are a very healthy snack for everyone!

Stay tuned for some recipes in the next couple of weeks to use those delicious blueberries!

Most blueberry farms provide gallon buckets to use during blueberry picking but you can also bring your own buckets or baskets to use.

Things to Know Before You Go:

Bring an
empty cooler with you.  If you plan on picking more than a few pounds of blueberries, you will want an empty cooler to put the berries in.  Not only will it keep them cool in the hot sun, but it will also keep the berries off of the ground where ants can find them.   It doubles as a good seat for tired children, too!
Bring a small portable backpack cooler full of ice, water, drinks of your choice and snacks depending on how long you will be out there. Bring your own water bottle you can attach to your bucket is a great ideas too. Larabars make great healthy snacks for the entire family.
Hats and sunscreen with bug spray will keep you protected out in the hot sun.

Bubbles or something just as quiet will keep the kids entertained when they are finished picking blueberries but you are not.
We bring plastic bags to pour the blueberries in if we are still picking but our buckets are full!
Be sure to bring cash.  Some blueberry farms take checks but most are cash only.
