What: Open house; Where: Historic Pensacola Village and Pensacola Children’s Museum; When: Saturday, June 2 from 10-4; Cost: FREE
Historic Pensacola Village will hold its annual Open House on Saturday, June 2, from 10am to 4pm. This year’s theme is Victorian/Reconstruction. Visit the shops and take a guided tour. There will be re-enactors, children’s activities, and more. This event is FREE.
The Pensacola Children’s Museum will also celebrate their grand opening with free admission on this day. We got a sneak peek of the museum last night and it is lovely. It is small but contains most of the activities that the TT Wentworth Discovery Gallery as well as a few additions. Many of the activities are quiet learning activities. The Pensacola Children’s Museum will be FREE on this date and future admission will be $3 a person over the age of 12 months (including adults). We will post a full report of what you need to know before you go this week.
The Pensacola Children’s Museum is located at 115 East Zarragossa Street. The Historic Pensacola Village is in the same area.

I think a children’s discovery museum was a great idea. But, I am VERY upset that you took away the FREE play area in TT Wentworth- inserted into your “new” museum and now want to charge me admission. What a shame the loss of that play area will be. It’s the main reason most people stopped by and enjoyed that museum. Now you want to charge my 4 year old $3 and his mother another $3 to be able to sit there and watch him play- with the same props that were free for him over the past 3 years!? Geese I can’t wait. Someone Google Children’s Discovery Museum and see what your up against please!
Hi Melanie, Thanks so much for your comment. I wanted to make sure that you knew that Pensacola with Kids is not affiliated with the Pensacola Children’s Museum so they may not see your comment. I encourage you to contact them directly via the TT Wentworth or their FB page (https://www.facebook.com/PensacolaChildrensMuseum). Thanks!
I am sorry you feel that way Melanie. The new museum really is much more than a “play area,” and I think $3 is pretty minimal. The art museum and the new MESS Hall both charge $5, so I think it is competitive with other attractions in the area. Remember, the museum has to pay staff, bills, and upkeep on the exhibits not to mention replacements to occasional damaged items. Believe me, free is great when you can find it, but I have no problem with being asked to pay. Frankly, maybe if parents have to pay they might rein in some of the more unruly behavior I’ve seen when I have visited with my kids.
Does anyone know the hours and what not? The website doesn’t offer much information…
We used to go all the time and I am sad to hear this. In reference to the person speaking of unruly kids I agree but I also dont think that will stop them so us with behaved children will still be suffering. Arent the people with unruly kids the ones that would give their kids anything they wanted- so it could cost $20 and they would still go, right? My kids are good and I always make them straighten up before we leave- it is just as neat if not neater when we leave. Also you must only have 1 kid b/c I have 5 so the $3 is no longer minimal when you start adding it up- I’d have to pay $18 to go and that is not worth it for the 30-60 miutes of play there. I am very disappointed to find this out! I am definitely contacting the museum.
