Monkey King: A Story From China – Pensacola Museum of Art

The Monkey King exhibit is really the first children’s exhibit of its size at the Pensacola Museum of Art.  The exhibit was designed by the Children’s Museum of Manhattan and is on loan until August 21, 2010 so you still have lots of time to visit.   Children can have the opportunity to explore the Chinese culture, art, religion, and geography through 16 interactive stations.  The exhibit is on the first level of the museum and you can’t miss the screams of delight coming from children racing around.  This was the Mystery Monday Photo and Diedra was correct!

The museum is always free on Tuesdays, so this is when we went.  The upside to this is that the museum admission was free.  The downside to this was that there were several large daycare groups and mom’s groups there as well.  Luckily, we timed it perfectly so the large groups were clearing out in the first few minutes after we arrived.

The sixteen hands-on stations promote imagination and creative thinking.  There was a marble race, dress up, a puppet theater, and much more.  Two of the stations were beginning to malfunction but we let the front desk know, so hopefully they have been looked at.  I guess it is bound to happen when you have hundreds of children playing at the stations.

Things To Know Before You Go:
